Recipe Ingredients
5 cups sifted flour
4 teaspoonfuls baking powder
3 coffee-cups sugar
1 heaped coffee-cup butter
6 eggs
1½ cups milk
Lemon flavoring
Preparation and cooking instructions
First separate the eggs so that you have the yolks in one
bowl and the whites in another. Then beat the whites to a
stiff froth.
Now put the sugar, the butter and the egg yolks into a large
mixing bowl and cream (beat) together. Next add the sifted
flour the baking powder, the milk and the beaten egg whites.
Then add the lemon flavoring.
Bake in layers.
