Recipe Ingredients
1lb ground beef
2 level teaspoons of chilli powder
2 medium onions (chopped)
2 tablespoons of tomato paste (purée)
1 garlic clove (minced)
A little olive oil
2 x 400g cans of red kidney beans (rinsed)
1 pint of stock
1 tablespoon of flour
Salt and pepper
Preparation and cooking instructions
Preheat the oven to 300°F(150°C).
Put a little olive oil into a flameproof casserole and cook
the onions and garlic until soft, add the ground beef and
stir until browned.
Stir in the flour and the tomato paste. Then pour in the
stock a little at a time, stirring well after each addition,
add the chilli powder and season with salt and pepper.
Simmer for a few minutes.
Cover and cook in the oven at 300°F(150°C) for approximately
one hour. Then stir in the kidney beans and cook the Chilli
Con Carne for about another three-quarters of an hour.
