Recipe Ingredients
Thinly sliced bread
Cucumber
Butter (at room temperature it makes it easier to spread)
Salt if liked
Preparation and cooking instructions
Firstly butter the sliced bread and cut off the crusts. Now peel a cucumber
and slice it very thinly and arrange on one slice of the buttered
bread and lightly sprinkle with salt if liked. Then top with
another slice of buttered bread and cut the sandwich into
four neat dainty triangles.
It’s always a good idea to cover sandwiches until they
are needed to prevent them from drying out. Sandwiches are
of course an ideal finger food for a party. They are quick
and easy to prepare and inexpensive, not only that but they
taste good too.
The English are particularly fond of cucumber sandwiches and
like to eat them in the garden on warm summer days for Afternoon
Tea, with cakes or biscuits (cookies) and of course a pot
of tea. |
