Vegetable and Fruit Trays
|
Vegetable Tray
Raw vegetables or salad ingredients arranged on trays or
platters, often called crudités; and fruit trays are
healthy, easy to prepare and sure to please your vegetarian
guests.
The vegetables or fruit selected may depend on the season
but when choosing take into consideration their colors and
arrange so that they contrast well with each other.
A raw vegetable tray could include, thinly sliced carrots,
celery, green onions, crisp lettuce, bell peppers, sliced
or diced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, radishes and fennel. These
could be served with a dip. If you would like a recipe idea
take a look at our dips section.
Fruit Tray
A fruit tray might include, seedless grapes, cherries, melon
balls, sliced peaches, the flesh of mango, pineapple and kiwis
cut into bite size pieces, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries,
raspberries, whitecurrants, orange or mandarin segments, gooseberries,
sliced star fruits and cumquats.
Alternatively strawberries arranged on a dish in rows and
layered to form a pyramid shape look very effective. Arrange
with the stalks pointing downwards so that only the red part
of the fruit is visible when the pyramid is complete.
If the stalks are long they will help to support the strawberries
and keep them upright. Save the best of the strawberries for
the top of the pyramid.
